RBT Supervision

Supervision Service

Our commitment is simple: provide excellent, effective, and ethical supervision. Schedule your first free meeting to get supervision questions answered. My Life Matters provide quality and affordable supervision services to individuals working towards sitting for the RBT exam. Supervision is the essential piece that prepares you for the certification exam and most importantly to work in the field as a Registered Behavior Technician.

According to the Behavior Analyst Certification Board, “The ability to correctly perform job tasks is the most important aspect of an RBT’s effectiveness; more so even than his or her knowledge of the concepts underlying the procedures. Therefore, frequent (annual) reassessment of that skill set is an important aspect of consumer protection.”

Overview of Supervision

Each RBT must obtain ongoing supervision for a minimum of 5% of the hours spent providing applied behavior-analytic services per month. There will be a contract agreement between the supervisor and the trainee outlining the elements of the supervision relationship. You are free to change supervisors at any given time and you may also have more than supervisor at a time.

Effective behavior-analytic supervision includes:

  • Development of performance expectations

  • Observation, behavioral skills training, and delivery of performance feedback

  • Modeling technical, professional, and ethical behavior

  • Guiding behavioral case conceptualization, problem-solving, and decision-making
    repertoires

  • Review of written materials (e.g., behavior programs, data sheets, reports)

  • Oversight and evaluation of the effects of behavioral service delivery

  • Ongoing evaluation of the effects of supervision
In-person, on-site observation is preferred. However, this may be conducted via web cameras, videoconferencing, or similar means in lieu of the supervisor being physically present. Although only one observation is required, the BACB encourages direct observation of service delivery as much as possible. At least 1 of the 2 supervision sessions must be individual (i.e., RBT and supervisor), but the other may occur in a small-group meeting.

Associated Fee

Supervision is offered for free to those who are employees of My Life Matters, and on a fee-based system to those who are not.The pricing structure is simple. Our hourly rate for supervision is $70 per hour. The BACB requires supervision equal to at least 5% of your fieldwork each month. For example, if you have 20 hours of fieldwork, you will need 1 hour of supervision. So the cost would be $70.
